NOTE: The Library accepts applications year-round for student assistant positions. Applications are kept on file for one calendar year; however, we recommend updating or resubmitting the application each semester due to changes in class schedules and hours of availability. While staffing needs change throughout the year, department supervisors frequently interview and/or hire the month prior to classes starting for any given semester.
The Library defines an IU student as any undergraduate taking six or more credit hours or graduate taking four or more credit hours during a fall or spring semester at any IU campus. During either summer session, an IU student must be taking either three credit hours as an undergraduate or two credit hours as a graduate. It is the policy of the Schurz Library and Wiekamp Educational Resource Commons to give preference to IU South Bend students for these positions. This policy is a reflection of the Library's commitment to assisting IU South Bend students by giving them income and work experience during their college years.
Application form is available in PDF format. You may also pick one up at the Library Administrative Office (L304) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or at the Circulation Desk in the library lobby after 5 p.m. and weekends.
