Purpose of Policy
The collection development policy for Latin American Studies guides the development and management of the Latin American Studies collection.
Program Description
The Latin American/Latino Studies Program focuses on the culture, society, and history of South America, Central America, and Mexico, and the Caribbean, as well as the experiences in the United States of people and their descendants from these regions. The approach is holistic and interdisciplinary, combining language proficiency and cultural appreciation with analysis of social institutions and the processes of social, political, economic, and cultural change.

- Cultural anthropology and archaeology of Latin America
- History of Latin America
- Art, literature, and music of Latin America
- Political geography of Latin America, including hemispheric and global contexts
- Women’s and gender studies in a Latin American Context
- Spanish language and literature
