Purpose of Policy
The collection development policy for English guides the development and management of the English collection.
Program Description
From their website: “Our programs are designed to expand students' understanding and skills in English language and composition, written communication, and literature. These programs prepare students for a broad range of careers, especially those requiring analytical thinking and expression and the ability to read carefully and write clearly. In addition to education and media-related careers, the writing and analytical skills gained in English courses will enhance careers in business, law, and medicine”
In addition to the undergraduate degree, the department offers a Master of Arts degree, a certificate in professional writing, as well as minors in English, creative writing, and film studies.

- Department also teaches many of the General Education Common Core courses (ENG-T 190, ENG-T 390, ENG-A 190, ENG-A 399, ENG-T 191 (for Education majors); as well as W131, First Year Writing.

- Graduate program numbers are declining, although recruiting has increased.
New and Expanding Areas of Interest
- Increased interest in Professional Writing, Publishing, and Digital Humanities
