Assist the Archives and Special Collections Librarian in collecting, organizing, preserving and making accessible the unique and historically important materials held in the IU South Bend Archives and Special Collections. Rehouse, organize and interfile archival materials; create inventories and summaries; digitize, upload, and create metadata for a variety of materials (e.g. images, audio, documents, records); facilitate the transfer of university records to Archives; create displays; and answer basic inquiries and make reproductions as needed. Participate in hiring, managing, scheduling and evaluating student workers and their projects.
•Two years of college level coursework required.
•One year working in an archives, museum, library, or with electronic data/document management.
•Effective computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet creation and manipulation using Microsoft Office, data entry, and database searching.
•Ability to problem solve and manage multiple deadlines, projects and priorities with a high level of detail and accuracy.
•Adept at following and providing complex instructions.
•Proficient at writing, editing and proofreading.
•Good customer relations/service skills working with diverse constituents.
•Comfortable working independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
•Associate’s degree preferred.
•Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat preferred.
•Basic knowledge of cataloging or indexing preferred.
SALARY: $15.40/hr. $32,032.00/annual
