SERVICES FOR STUDENTS

Schurz Library Instruction Librarians offer instruction sessions (typically 75 min. in length) based on course assignments and requested by professors. You may come to the library for one or more of these in a semester. Classroom sessions are usually held in the library's ground floor classroom, and may include:

  • General library information
  • How-to procedures for students doing their first major paper
  • Advanced research methods and tools in a specific subject field
  • Approaches to graduate research
  • Online and Internet sources
  • Evaluation of sources, especially those found on the Internet

As a student, you can get the most out of the session by:

  • Understanding the assignment ahead of time
  • Having a general idea of a topic that you would like to research
  • Having computer lab login before coming to the Library
  • Listening well and asking questions during the session
