Instructional Media Developmental Grants
Deadline for 2009 proposals: November 3. 2008

Introduction

Instructional Media Services, a department within the Library and under the auspices of Academic Affairs, is pleased to announce the Instructional Media Development Grant program. These grants are designed to support undergraduate and graduate instruction on the South Bend campus through the development of professional audio and video productions, which are distinct from normal and routine IMS responsibilities in scope, required skills, and production values. Though no salary is provided through this program, the grant will provide all labor, production facilities, and supplies - except in the case of travel or extraordinary material costs.

Video or audio programs produced through these grants must be used in the classroom to improve or to enhance applicants' courses. Specifically, we are looking for projects that fill a particular instructional need, projects that solve a pedagogical problem or problems for a faculty member, a department, or a school.

Faculty members who receive grants should expect to fully collaborate with the Instructional Media Services staff in developing, scripting and producing video and audio programs. The staff can provide expert advice and assistance in the production of professional quality videotapes, DVDs, CDs. and multimedia projects, and may collaborate with other units at IUSB in producing web-based presentations.

A maximum of two projects will be supported during the 2008/2009 academic year. Grants will be awarded by December 15, 2008 on the recommendation of the UCET/IMS grant committee. Project planning typically occurs during the spring semester, and have a completion date of August 31, 2009.

The project guidelines, application form and instructions may be downloaded from this site as a Word document. Interested faculty should arrange for an initial consultation session with Jim Yocom, proposal coordinator for IMS.

Instructional Media Services also provides a wide range of media support services outside the grant program, including videotaping service, video and audio tape duplication, and complete scripting and consultation services.
