The ERC, located in Greenlawn 111, is a unique resource center for students, student teachers, faculty, staff and the Michiana community. The collection specializes in providing patrons with Pre-school through high school teaching aids and materials for all subject areas.
The types of materials range from activity books, transparencies, and hands-on items (referred to as manipulatives), to resourceful teaching ideas, tapes, and textbooks. The arrangement of material on the shelves is by subject and then by call number order within that subject area.

The ERC has a collection of educational supplies catalogs. This collection includes book publishers, lamination suppliers, video suppliers, and more. A list has been compiled of all the catalogs on hand.
The ERC is the only Indiana Textbook Adoption review site in the Michiana area. Here teachers, textbook selection committees, and the community can preview new textbooks. Once the selection period ends, these new textbooks are incorporated into the ERC circulating collection.
Users can check out materials with an IU Libraries Borrower's Card which is available at both the Schurz Library and the ERC. IU student and staff IDs with library barcodes may also be used. Loan periods are 45 days for undergraduates, 30 days for Indiana residents, and 120 days for faculty, staff, and graduate students, but educational technology books and software often have four day loan periods. Late charges are 25 cents per day for most items. Reserve materials, most reference books, new adoption, and standardized testing materials may be viewed in the ERC, but may not be loaned out.
To search the ERC holdings, go to IUCAT (the IU Libraries catalog system) and select South Bend ERC from the "Select Library" option.
